Rosario Rogel-Salazar

Sociologist, doctor in Social Sciences, specialist in theory of social systems, scientific editorial processes, open access and scientific communication, topics she has approached in various publications in books and specialized journals. Professor in the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México. Visiting researcher in Dirección General de Cómputo y de Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación of UNAM.

A member of the National System of Researchers (Conacyt, Mexico), she has collaborated in the development of current methodologies to assess academic publications and was involved as well in the drafting of the bill on Open Access in Mexico, approved in May 2014.

  • She has been director and founder of scientific journals and is a member of the editorial committee of many others, both in Mexico and abroad.
  • At present she is a member of the Editorial Council of El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, and incumbent in the Institutional Editorial Council of Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco.
  • She was director of the editorial program of Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, from 2014 to April 2016.
  • She has been a member of the committee of experts in assessment of the Index of Scientific and Technologic journals of Conacyt, and also of the assessment committee of Open Access Repositories of the same committee.

The campaign “Dominemos las TIC” 2014, by the collective Take Back The Tech, Mexico Chapter, included her as one of the ten most outstanding women in Mexico in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the context of the annual call by UN UNiTE.

Irvin Pavel Santiago-Bautista  



Sociologist, he studied a master degree in Sociology in Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Azcapotzalco (UAM-A), Mexico. His degree research consists in an analysis on the problem of the ranking of sociology journals in Mexico.

His research lines are: sociology of science, communication of science, open access, scientific policy and open science. He worked in the area of Periodical Publications in the Editorial Program of Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México. Founding member of HABILIS academic consultancy and knowledge management and consultant in Scientificomm (http://scientificomm.info/). Moreover, he teaches Scientific Editorial Processes and Research, diffusion and dissemination of scientific knowledge and Knowledge Society stressing Sociology of technoscience and scientific processes in the undergraduate program of Sociology in Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México.

Néstor Daniel Martínez-Domínguez   



Master in sociology from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana–Azcapotzalco. Currently, he is a professor in the Faculty of Behavioral Sciences of Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México in the areas of education technologies and emerging scenarios for education on the web 2.0. He has researched and published on scientific output, alternative metrics, Open Access and editorial processes. In the governmental sphere, he collaborated with Consejo Mexiquense de Ciencia y Tecnología (Comecyt) coordinating editorial programs of dissemination of science and training of human resources to appropriate scientific knowledge.

His research lines follow new scientific editorial processes in the environment of Science 2.0, new tools for international scientific collaboration and cooperation, Open Science and communication of science, about which he has given workshops, published in science popularization magazines and in journals indexed in international databases; he has also been a lecturer in national forums and in various countries such as Spain and Turkey.

Andréa Gonçalves do Nascimento 

Master in Librarianship from Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), she holds postgraduate studies in Information Technology from New York University and a B.A. in Librarianship from Universidade de São Paulo (USP).

She was librarian and director of publications for UN in New York and has wide experience in the area of scientific communication because of her involvement as a coordinator in SciELO project, consultant in Redalyc and customer relations manager in ProQuest. She is the author of the book “Altmetria para bibliotecarios: métricas alternativas para la evaluación de la producción científica” (in Portuguese).

Aarón Alejandre Aguilar


Sociology undergraduate. He is interested in sociology of science, Open Access, gender and science. He has collaborated in Revista Pensarte.  Coordinator of Social Research in Techo Estado de México (2016-2017). He was a scholarship holder in the editorial program (2015-2016)


Luis Cejudo-Espinosa


Mechanical engineer from Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM). A teacher in the Language Teaching Center of the same university and a translator with broad experience (15 years). He specializes in academic translation in various fields such as Social Sciences, Humanities, Tourism and Gastronomy, Agricultural and Rural Sciences, Architecture and design, Medicine, among others.

He has been a member of several panels of translators (Colegio Mexiquense, British Council) and collaborates with researchers from various public universities and research centers. More information at:


Hebe Powell


María Trinidad Monroy-Vilchis 


Graduate in Sociology from Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM), she studied the master in Art History in Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM); she is a professor in the Faculties of Humanities, Political and Social Sciences, and Anthropology in UAEM since 2012.

She has participated in a number of national and international seminars, congresses and workshops and given courses on the improvement of editorial processes and best practices for academic journals. In the 29th edition of Guadalajara International Book Fair, held in 2015, she gave the workshop Digital editorial processes and normalization: tools to manage and edit books, activity carried out as part of the Professional Program.

From January 2014 to August 2016, she was coordinator of the area of Periodical Publications in the Direction of the Editorial program of Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México. At present, she is the Subdirector of Libraries and Publications of the Secretariat of Culture in the Government of the State of Mexico and external collaborator in Scientificomm.
